The Royal Australian Mint has immortalised Australia’s most Iconic animal as part of it’s ongoing ‘Kangaroo Series’, now in its twenty ninth year.
Impressions of Australia’s distinct landscape interweave with the ever-present icon of the bush, the eternal Kangaroo. The emphasis on form, clarity and composition is achieved through suggestions of landscape – a key approach of the Australian Impressionist Movement – The Heidelberg School.
This 2022 $1 Fine Silver Proof Coin honours the great Australian Impressionists with an informal and evocative style that evokes the play of light and shadows unique to Australia’s flora and fauna. Coin’s reverse design commemorates the great Australian Impressionist Movement.
Coin’s obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark.
